5 Things Parents Need to Know about Having Twins

If you just discovered that you’re expecting twins, you may be thinking that you’re dreaming. After all, how will you be able to handle two babies plus everything else you already do?

The truth is that it’s not easy to be a parent of twins. However, most twin parents need time to adjust. Other times, they just don’t know what to expect. So, there’s nothing better than learning from other twin parents who were already in your shoes some time ago.

5 Things Parents Need to Know about Having Twins

#1: Don’t Worry Too Much About Your Ever-Expanding Body:

Women are always worried about their physical appearance. It’s natural. However, there is something a lot more important to keep in mind: your soon-to-be-born twins. Will your body expand? Yes. Will it expand a lot? Yes, probably. And it will happen at a fast rate than if you were having a single baby. After all, you need space to accommodate two babies in your uterus. So, think about flip-flops and large dresses in the last few months.

#2: Say Yes To Help:

Even if you are the kind of person who can do it all, just accept help this time. You’re going to need it. No matter if someone is helping you with the grocery bag because you’re pushing the double stroller or if your sister came by to help you, just take it. You also need time to rest a bit.

#3: Don’t Stay At Home:

Well, it’s not easy to leave home with multiples. All the things you need to take with you just in case something happens. Not to mention that one of them (or both) can start fussing. If you think about the problems that may happen, you will never leave. However, you can be sure that as soon as you are outside in the fresh air, you will wish you had done it sooner.

#4: Take Time For Yourself And For The Couple:

We can stress this enough. Taking some time out for you and the couple is absolutely crucial. It may be just one or two hours a week but they are extremely important to maintain your sanity.

Being surrounded by two babies all the time is not easy. You need to go out by yourself and leave the diaper bag at home. You need to arrange a time to be with your partner. Just get out once in a while.

#5: One-On-One Time Is Important As Well:

One of the things twin moms regret the most is that they were unable to give each one of their babies their undivided attention. However, you have the possibility to do things differently.

Even though they are twins, they like different things, they are attracted to different things. So, why shouldn’t you take some time for one baby and then for the other baby?
